It can be hard to learn how to apply makeup, especially when there are so many tutorials and tips online. The problem is that they’re all different. One person might say to put on a highlighting concealer after your foundation, while someone else says never to do that. It’s difficult to know what you should do when you have so many different opinions! That’s why we created this blog post to teach you the 5 most common make-up mistakes and how to avoid them.
Putting on Mascara Before Eyeliner
Mascara is applied over the top of eyeliner, which is used to help define and sculpt the eye. Never try to use both simultaneously – they will look unnatural. Use either an eyeliner brush or your finger to apply mascara.
Avoid Colors That Run Into Your Basal Lips
There is a fine line between a shade that will enhance your lips and one that will look garish. To avoid this, opt for a light pink or peachy pink that is not too strong.
Using Too Much Blush
Applying too much blush on your cheeks can make them look like you’re wearing lipstick. Go for a tinted formula, which is much more subtle.
Using Pastel Colors On Your Lips
People tend to focus on the lipstick they apply and forget about the lip color underneath.
Not Using Primer
No primer will make your face sweat. It’s not necessary to build up your base with a greasy primer like Pro Factor. Instead, gently dab your fingers over your face and behind your ears to even out the skin. It’s best to use a primer when the skin underneath is fair or thin. This is when most people get pimples! But primer will prevent that.
Not Combing Your Hair
You know your hair is time-consuming to style. You’ve invested hours in maintaining it! But you forget that when you go to the beach, your curls will dry flat and frizzy. You need to moisturize your hair before you go to the beach or hit the waves. Take about 1 minute to comb your hair before you go out. You will be amazed at how much of a difference this makes.
Applying Too Much Foundation
I think that one of the most common mistakes people make is applying too much foundation. It sounds pretty simple, but when your face is so large, the formula can feel overwhelming! Using a shade lighter than your skin tone can help you look more natural, which will help create a more flattering finish. If your foundation is too dark, the darker areas will be emphasized more and the lighter areas will be covered up.
Also, it’s important to start with a light hand and work your way up. Apply a small amount of product to the T-Zone before working your way around your face. Once you’ve applied your foundation, use a cleansing balm to remove any excess and apply a setting powder to your T-Zone.
Not Wearing Blush
Blush is one of the hardest makeup mistakes to get right because it usually requires putting a bunch of product on your face. You have to work to blend it in to your skin color. If you apply too much you can look like a clown. However, using the wrong blush color can create other problems as well. Blushes come in so many colors. The wrong blush color can look orange or clownish. The right blush color can make your face look old or make it look hollow. There’s not really a right or wrong. If you want to use the right colors, try applying a little blush on your cheeks before applying your foundation. Blush should not be a base. You don’t want to try to make your skin look flawless!
Skipping Powder
The idea is to build up your look to give it a more natural effect. If you skip powder, your makeup will look unfinished.
Powder is the “final touch” to your makeup. When you skip it, you run the risk of needing to apply a second coat of powder to hide your mistake.
Eye Makeup Tips
Eyeshadows and eyeliner are the two most important steps in the eye makeup process. It’s the only part of your make-up that stays on the longest.
To avoid glitter fallout, use waterproof eye liners.
Use a gel or cream shadow. It blends more smoothly than powder eye shadows.
Avoid ultralight eyeshadows. They usually are less smudge-proof and blend less easily.
Categorize Your Makeup Palettes
I’m sure you have a few makeup palettes, and sometimes your makeup goes missing.
